Gun-toting customers stop attack at SC car dealership, report says
ROCK HILL, S.C. —

A pair of legally armed customers at a car dealership stopped an attack in which a man threatened to kill employees and smashed vehicles with a pipe wrench, according to the Associated Press and a report in The State newspaper.

Aaron Hayes,16th Circuit assistant solicitor, said Alonzo Seegars was unhappy with the service at a car dealership in Fort Mill, and armed himself with a pipe wrench.

The State reported that Seegars threatened to kill a female employee and smashed three vehicles with the wrench Dec. 21 before two customers with concealed carry permits intervened and held him at gunpoint until deputies arrived.

York County deputies used a stun gun and then tackled Seegars, who suffered a broken leg,the report says.

The report says Seegars was in court Friday for a bond hearing. Seegars was not taken to jail, but hospitalized for physical and mental health reasons. He was served warrants Jan. 2 on charges of attempted murder, assault and battery and breach of peace in an aggravated nature.

An employee testified at Seegars’ bond hearing that the suspect had previously threatened people at the dealership, and on Dec. 21, backed him into a corner with the pipe wrench before a profanity-laced tirade of death threats and smashed cars, The State reported.

Seegars is being held with bond set at $25,000.

A Hymn with Punch

A preacher was finishing a rousing sermon against the evils of drink. His voice filling the church, he said, “If I had all the beer in the world, I’d take it and throw it into the river.”

Growing more impassioned, he shouted, “And if I had all the wine in the world, I’d take it and throw it into the river.”

Finally, he thundered, “And if I had all the whiskey in the world, I’d take it and throw it into the river.” He sat down.

The song leader then stood up and announced, “For our closing song, let us sing Hymn #365: ‘Shall We Gather at the River.'”

As a fellow Christian I find it very refreshing to see other men openly praising Jesus. I really enjoy the podcast and think these guys are a great team. I have enjoyed the variety of the topics they cover, not just boring springs and trigger gun talk. A very down to earth opinion of two guys that are not employed in the gun market. Thank you both for taking your time to share with us your valuable opinions. I believe our country needs more men like us in our countries current situation.

God Bless and Stay safe

From Kaleb Olson

Troy and Doug,
Hello, my name is Kaleb Olson and I have been listening to your podcasts for a few months now. I am very passionate about firearms and am a proud follower of Jesus. I am a junior biology major in college and have been blessed to be able to lead a small group for a college ministry called SALT Company. My mentor and I had an extended conversation about concealed carry and self-defense as Christians. We were wrestling with the topic because if we truly have put all our trust in Jesus Christ than who are we to take our lives into our own hands by defending them with a firearm or other self-defense weapons?

One of your podcasts I had listened to, you guys made King David the example. King David killed many men and many in defense for his life. King David is obviously considered a man after God’s own heart but as I stated above, we couldn’t help but to feel like our trust might not be in the Lord if we choose to defend ourselves. I mentioned your podcast to my mentor and we mutually sought to get both of your input on this topic. I already know your answer but I would like your explanations. I would greatly appreciate it.

I would also just like to extend my sincerest thanks to you for using a platform such as podcast to boldly spread the gospel. If I may, I’d also like to make a prayer request. Our church is growing at an astounding rate and as such we were looking for a new building. It just so happens that another local church was considering finding a new location and we are actually “swapping buildings”. I’d ask that you pray that we are able to raise the funds to make all the payments on the new building and that it won’t limit our ability to do ministry by cutting our current budget too tight.

I plan on leaving you an iTunes review in the near future when I get some time and figure out how to do it! Lastly, I’d like to commit to buying a patch, t-shirt, and one of the decals! I’d like the t-shirt in medium please. I noticed you have them up on the website store but I figured since I was already in contact with you about this that I’d just order them through the email! So I’d like your instructions on payment.

Once again, thank you and I am greatly looking forward to your input.

God bless,

Kaleb Olson

70-year-old man fights off home invader, KRQE, Albuquerque, N.M. 09/09/16

A 70-year-old man who walks using a cane was at home in Tijeras, N.M. when an intruder broke into the house. The home invader attacked the elderly man with a hockey stick and a piece of bamboo. The elderly man responded to the attack by retrieving a .38-caliber handgun and shooting his assailant, killing him.

The elderly man’s neighbors were supportive of his actions, with one telling a local media outlet, “Good for him. That’s awesome that he was able to think that fast and he was able to protect himself.” Another neighbor added, “Thank god that he’s armed and you know, most of us up here are. I hope people see this is not a good place to come for sure.” (KRQE, Albuquerque, N.M. 09/09/16)

I really enjoy the weekly podcast. It’s a positive message in a negative world. The hosts glorify God every chance they get.

Samuel Crowe,
Hey Guys!

Thank you for all of the hard work you put into producing the show.  Keep sharing the light of Christ to this dark world. I live in Charleston, SC and attend James Island Baptist Church.  Listed below are the service times and my contact information if someone responds and is interested in visiting.  Thank you.

Also, I have been carrying in a crossbreed super tuck since 2009.  I cannot say enough good things about this holster.   Fortunately I found this holster early in my search process, and because of this, my drawer full of holsters I don’t use is small.  It is by far the most comfortable concealed carry holster I have worn.

In Christ,
Samuel Crowe

Proclaiming Christ Crucified 1 And I, when I came to you, brothers, did not come proclaiming to you the testimony of God with lofty speech or wisdom. 2 For I decided to know nothing among you except Jesus Christ and him crucified. 3 And I was with you in weakness and in fear and much trembling, 4 and my speech and my message were not in plausible words of wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power,5 so that your faith might not rest in the wisdom of men but in the power of God. 1 Corinthians 2:1-5 (ESV)

Woman shoots home invader, Tennessean, Nashville, Tenn. 03/18/16
JoShanda Odem was at home in in Antioch, Tenn. when she heard knocking at the door. Using a peephole, Odem determined that the man at her door was a stranger. Odem retreated to her bedroom, retrieved a .357-caliber revolver, and called the police. Eventually, the man broke inside the apartment and entered Odem’s bedroom. Odem responded to the threat by shooting the home invader once, prompting him to flee.
A short time later the wounded intruder sought treatment at a local hospital; he was subsequently captured. Police determined that the home invader was free on bond for an unrelated felony charge at the time of the incident. (Tennessean, Nashville, Tenn. 03/18/16)

Hello Troy,
I guess I could call myself a long time listener.   One of my hobbies is running and I love to listen to your podcast if I find myself running on the treadmill.
I think you have been mentioning that you are working on a protection policy for your church.   I find myself in a similar position presenting an outline and an initial draft of a policy to the Deacons in the near future.
Have you run across any especially good resources for this that you could recommend.   I’m working my way through A Time to Kill which has really had an influence on my thinking.   However, I would love to see any examples or best practices that you have run into that you may be able to share.
Obviously churches don’t leave their protection policies on the internet so it is actually kind of challenging to find a lot of practical information.
Thanks for anything you may be able to offer. Scott Gobrogge

Hey Troy,
Love your show!

Just thought I’d comment about the “sniper rifle” request your nephew I believe you said, made. First of all, I agree that he should get comfortable with what you have first and then begin to build up his own collection, but here is an idea. I’d prefer to build off a varmint platform with a .308 caliber which is a perfect longer range option for any purpose, especially hunting, and it will go out to 1,000 yards or so. Here’s my very affordable wishlist in a “longer” range platform. All told $770.00 without ammo. Good starter package, and then you can add the higher grade optics and triggers and such later. This is literally on my wish list from Sportsmansguide.com.

Senior Right-to-Carry permit holder shoots two attackers, WPVI, Philadelphia, Pa. 03/03/2016

A 65-year-old resident and his wife were walking home from their business in Philadelphia, Pa. when a pair of men attacked them. The resident, a Right-to-Carry permit holder, responded to the attack by drawing a .45-caliber handgun and firing at the assailants, striking them both and causing them to halt their attack. Police caught up with the attackers a short time later and transported them to the hospital.

The armed citizen did suffer injuries during the incident, with his attorney telling a local media outlet, “This was a matter of life or death. If he didn’t do what he did, and he didn’t have the training to do it. I think we would be at a funeral right now. It’s that bad.” (WPVI, Philadelphia, Pa. 03/03/2016) https://www.nraila.org/articles/20160304/senior-right-to-carry-permit-holder-shoots-two-attackers-wpvi-philadelphia-pa-03032016

Dead Dog
A man runs into the vet’s office carrying his dog, screaming for help. The vet rushes him back to an examination room and has him put his dog down on the examination table. The vet examines the still, limp body and after a few moments, tells the man that his dog, regrettably, is dead. The man, clearly agitated and not willing to accept this, demands a second opinion.
The vet goes into the back room and comes out with a cat and puts the cat down next to the dog’s body. The cat sniffs the body, walks from head to tail, poking and sniffing the dog’s body and finally looks at the vet and meows.
The vet looks at the man and says, “I’m sorry, but the cat thinks that you’re dog is dead, too.” The man is still unwilling to accept that his dog is dead. So the vet brings in a black Labrador retriever. The lab sniffs the body, walks from head to tail, and finally looks at the vet and barks. The vet looks at the man and says, “I’m sorry, but the lab thinks your dog is dead too.”
The man, finally resigned to the diagnosis, thanks the vet and asks how much he owes. The vet answers, “$650.”
“$650 to tell me my dog is dead?” exclaims the man.
“Well,” the vet replies, “I would only have charged you $50 for my initial diagnosis. The additional $600 was for the cat scan and lab tests.

I was just up there this weekend and I am happy to report that everyone’s prayers are working. Her brain is no longer swelling and they have her off that monitor. They have also taken the breathing tube out of her. She is slowly progressing, but progress all the same. She still doesn’t realize what’s going on but is slowing waking up. It may take a few days for her to come about after being on all that medication. She does respond to the touch, which is a great leap from where we were just two weeks ago.

I want to think both of you for your prayers and adding her to the Facebook page. It really meant a lot in our time of need. The prayers are working. I would also like to ask that you add Ivy to your prayer list. She is in the ICU step-down unit there in VA and was in a terrible accident. The doctors had to remove part of her skull. I was unable to meet with her but according to my wife, her head now looks like a Teepee ( to put it bluntly). I know the family of Ivy are going through some insurance issues at the moment, I pray that the situation be resolved. Emily, whoever, should be moved to the step-down unit in the next couple of days. At that point, I believe the family is planning to move her to Atlanta for the rehab portion. Thanks again for all the prayers. I can’t even begin to tell you how much they have meant to our family.

Your Brother in Christ,
Steven A. Campbell

In the last podcast, a question was asked about what out of state permits would be good to get since that person lived in Va. That person could apply for the Florida or Utah out of state permits. With the Utah permit . a class is required by a Utah approved instructor. Let that person know to go to “handgunlaw.us” website for info on how to apply. I want to thank you guys for such a great and inspiring podcast. I read my bible everyday and when I listen to the podcast, it adds that much more. Keep up the great and important work. Yours in Christ.

Chicago cellphone store employee fights off a pair of armed robbers, WLS-TV, Chicago, Ill. 01/13/16, Chicago Tribune, Chicago, Ill. 01/14/16
A pair of men armed with handguns entered a T-Mobile store in Chicago, Ill. in an attempt to rob the establishment. An employee, and Right-to-Carry permit holder, responded to the threat by drawing a gun and firing at the robbers, striking both and causing them to flee. A short time later police caught up with the thieves when they sought medical treatment for their wounds.

Store manager Neil Tadros expressed support for his employee following the incident, telling a local media outlet, “I think concealed carry is a great opportunity for managers, workers, employees to protect themselves in these cases. And our employee did a great job to protect themselves and the other employee.” The Chicago Tribune reported that Tadros had further praise for Illinois’ relatively new Right-to-Carry law, stating, “It’s a great thing to have to protect yourself even when you’re not in your business. If you’re out in the streets and someone is threatening your life, you can go out and protect yourself.” (WLS-TV, Chicago, Ill. 01/13/16, Chicago Tribune, Chicago, Ill. 01/14/16)

Comedy Corner:

Naming the Twins
A man was taking his wife, who was pregnant with twins, to the hospital when his car went out of control and crashed.

Regaining consciousness, he saw his brother, a relentless practical joker, sitting at his bed side.

He asked his brother how his wife was doing and his brother said, “Don’t worry, everybody is fine and you have a son and a daughter.

But the hospital was in a real hurry to

get the birth certificates filed and since both you and your wife were unconscious, I named them for you.”

The husband was thinking to himself, “Oh no, what has he done now?” and asked with some hesitation, “Well, what did you name them?”

Whereupon, his brother replied, “I named the little girl Denise.”

The husband, relieved, said, “That’s a lovely name! And what did you come up with for my son?”

The brother replied, “Denephew.”

And you shall eat your bread to the full and dwell in your land securely. 6 I will give peace in the land, and you shall lie down, and none shall make you afraid. And I will remove harmful beasts from the land, and the sword shall not go through your land.7 You shall chase your enemies, and they shall fall before you by the sword. 8 Five of you shall chase a hundred, and a hundred of you shall chase ten thousand, and your enemies shall fall before you by the sword. 9I will turn to you and make you fruitful and multiply you and will confirm my covenant with you. 10 You shall eat old store long kept, and you shall clear out the old to make way for the new. 11 I will make my dwelling among you, and my soul shall not abhor you. 12 And I will walk among you and will be your God, and you shall be my people. 13 I am the Lord your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, that you should not be their slaves. And I have broken the bars of your yoke and made you walk erect. Leviticus 26:1-13

Doug,
I never received the frog lube sample. Maybe someone else needs it more than I do, or it got lost.
On a more positive note I got to attend The Sheepdog Seminar here in Charleston.  I highly recommend it to everyone.  I have been trying to slowly introduce my church to the idea of having a security team, and I was able to gather some important information.
As a bonus I had the privilege of meeting and getting to listen to Lt. Col. Dave Grossman!
I would love to try FrogLube if you have another sample.  Thanks again for all your work. I love the show.

Store owner uses semi-automatic rifle to repel armed robbers, WISN, Milwaukee, Wis. 07/27/15, WITI, Milwaukee, Wis. 07/27/15

Rami Murrar, owner of Bouchard’s clothing store in Milwaukee, Wisc., was tending to his establishment when at around 4 a.m. a van smashed into the security doors and concrete posts protecting his store. A daring organized heist; after the van broke through the doors, three armed men attempted to gain access to the store. Murrar responded to the threat by retrieving a semi-automatic rifle and firing at the armed intruders, striking one and causing all to flee. A short time later police caught up with one of the suspected robbers at a local hospital.

Following the incident, Murrar told a local news outlet, “It was a lot of guys out there. So I believe if they would’ve gotten through that door, I would’ve been dead, so that’s the reason I reached for my gun.” Despite his successful experience with armed self-defense, Murrar made clear he did not relish the position he was placed in and showed mercy towards his attackers, stating, “I’m glad the guy made it. Again, I didn’t come to work that night or that day to kill somebody, so I hope he recovers from what happened, and he learns a lesson and be a good message for all the young guys out there.” (WISN, Milwaukee, Wis. 07/27/15, WITI, Milwaukee, Wis. 07/27/15)

Concealed Carrying Pharmacist Saves Multiple Lives In West Virginia

A pharmacist in West Virginia reacted to an armed robber threatening his staff this morning by pulling his concealed handgun and firing “several” shots at the gun-toting robber, dropping the violent suspect in his tracks.

The robbery occurred about 9:45 a.m. Wednesday at the Good Pharmacy on North Pinch Road, according to a news release from the sheriff’s department. Deputies said a masked male suspect entered the pharmacy and pointed a firearm at the staff. The pharmacist on duty pulled his own firearm that he was carrying concealed and fired the weapon at the suspect. The suspect was struck and fell onto the pharmacy floor. Staff at the pharmacy then began to perform lifesaving measures on the suspect.

The suspect was transported to Charleston Area Medical Center General Hospital where he was taken into surgery. The suspect did succumb to his injuries and was pronounced dead at the hospital.

Deputies said the name of the deceased will be released at a later time pending notification to the family. Currently, based upon witness interviews and video evidence charges will not be filed against the pharmacist, deputies said. Video Link Here

A blonde was complaining to her friend about constantly being called a dumb blonde. Her friend tells her “go do something to prove them wrong! Why don’t you learn all the state capitals or something?” The blonde thinks this is a great idea, and locks herself up for two weeks studying.

The next party she goes to, some guy is making dumb blonde comments to her. She gets all indignant and claims, “I’m NOT a dumb blonde. In fact, I can name ALL the state capitals!”

The guy doesn’t believe her, so she dares him to test her. He says “Okay, what’s the Capital of Montana?”

The blonde tosses her hair in triumph and says, “That’s easy! It’s M!”

Can I see President Clinton

A man walks up to the Marine guard at the White House front gate and asked to see President Clinton. The guard says “Sorry sir but Clinton is no longer president.”

The man comes back the next day and again approaches the same guard and asks to see President Clinton. Again the guard says “Sir, Clinton is no longer president.” The man leaves but comes back the third day and again asked to see President Clinton.

The guard says “Sir…you have been here three days in a row asking to see President Clinton…and I have told you each time that Clinton is no longer president…what gives?”

The man says “I know… I just like hearing it.”

Weekly Bible Verses & Main Topic

6th Commandment – Do not Murder*
The sixth commandment helps us to understand…
1. What murder is (Deut. 5:17). You shall not murder (Deut. 5:17).
Are There Exceptions?
Self Defense (Neh. 4:11-14). Exodus 22:2-3 reads, “If a thief is found breaking in and is struck so that he dies, there shall be no bloodguilt for him, but if the sun has risen on him, there shall be bloodguilt for him.” So even after the Commands are given in Exodus 20, we can see that God permits the taking of a life if one’s own life is in potential danger.
Capital Punishment
Genesis 9:6 not only shows that we are to value human life because of creation; it also points out that if a man kills another man, his life was also to be taken. Even before the law was given to Israel—before the Commandment not to murder—God established capital punishment. This punishment speaks to the severity of the crime. The taking of a life warrants a punishment in kind—a death for a death.
Just War
In Scripture, God at times commanded battles between nations. Such battles and wars were God’s hand of justice against the wicked. Examples of God sanctioning war can be found throughout the historical books of the Old Testament. Although men and women are killed in battle, there must be a difference between the act of murder and a death in battle.
Jesus Himself said, “My kingdom is not of this world… If my kingdom were of this world, my servants would have been fighting, that I might not be delivered over to the Jews. But my kingdom is not from the world” (John 18:36).
2. What drives it (Matt. 5:21-22).
You have heard that it was said to those of old, ‘You shall not murder; and whoever murders will be liable to judgment.’ But I say to you that everyone who is angry with his brother will be liable to judgment; whoever insults his brother will be liable to the council; and whoever says, ‘You fool!’ will be liable to the hell of fire (Matt. 5:21-22).
Words Can Kill – Bullying

Murder Affects Us All – Abortion, Infanticide, Democide, genocide, euthanasia.

3. The cure for it (1 John 3:10-15).
By this it is evident who are the children of God, and who are the children of the devil: whoever does not practice righteousness is not of God, nor is the one who does not love his brother. For this is the message that you have heard from the beginning, that we should love one another. We should not be like Cain, who was of the evil one and murdered his brother. And why did he murder him? Because his own deeds were evil and his brother’s righteous. Do not be surprised, brothers, that the world hates you. We know that we have passed out of death into life, because we love the brothers. Whoever does not love abides in death. Everyone who hates his brother is a murderer, and you know that no murderer has eternal life abiding in him (1 John 3:10-15).

Conclusion
“The Sixth Commandment forbids murder, yet as Jesus showed, the intent of the Commandment addresses the words that we say and ultimately the heart behind these actions. Murder—and the heart of anger behind it—denies the inherent value of human life and strikes out against the image of God in humanity. For this reason, God takes murder very seriously. In fact, unrepentant murderers will not inherit the kingdom of God (Rev. 21:8). But the work of Jesus on the cross can cleanse even this sin and change the attitude of the heart.
Our world is full of people who do not know that they were made in the image of God and are valuable to Him. Nor do they fully recognize the eternal consequences of the anger in their hearts or the actions that overflow from their hearts. Their hatred even extends to God Himself. Yet as Jesus loved us enough to die for us while we were still His enemies, we ought to love these people in the name of Jesus that they too may be freed from hatred to love God and others.
A life that is pleasing to God is one that has moral purity not only in its actions, but also in its desires of heart.9

NRA Armed Citizen

Clerk halts robber armed with rifle, WFSB, Connecticut, 08/06/14

A man armed with a rifle entered Congress Mini Mart in New Haven, Conn. and attempted to rob the store. At some point the thief left, then traveled to the nearby Nino’s Market convenience store and attempted to rob it. The clerk at Nino’s responded to the threat by retrieving a gun and shooting the criminal in the chest, killing him. Police have confirmed that the clerk was in compliance with Connecticut’s gun laws. Bizarrely, the clerks at Congress Mini Mart and Nini’s Market are brothers.
